Welton’s Guest Week: Part 3

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

These cartoonists today. Everytime someone draws for a long time, they think they’ve invented something. Ooh, I all day, I think I’ll call it a 24 hour comic. It’s called a deadline, bucko. Ooh, I just invented the Sketchcrawl! It’s called ‘going outside’, Buster. Try it a little more often and it won’t be such a big deal.

This week we’ve got two of these kids.

First off, there’s this kid Jared Hindman who does some comic called Brain Injury Cinema or something has invented the Art Crash. He sets a goal, and draws for as long as it takes, without sleeping, until he completes his goal. Or something. I wasn’t paying attention.

The first two ended up being called Jerome is Special and Abe Lincoln is Special. Apparently this “art crash” crashed his brain so hard he drew every page with the same character in the same spot in the same position. He may call it a “challenge”, but I only consider challenging things to be those that aren’t ridiculously lazy, as a rule.

Well, this time he did Welton Colbert is Special. How original. But what do I care, I’m on vacation, just read the thing already!

Tune in tomorrow for part 4.
