Mexican House Hunt: Tijuana

Monday, July 30th, 2007

As John Campbell and I road trip across Mexico finding a place to start our artist’s commune, I’ll keep you updated from each city we visit!

Greetings from the AM/PM in Tijuana, Mexico!

John and I have only been here a few minutes, and we’ve already gotten the real Tijuana experience. Within 2 minutes of exiting our taxi, we had already been offered valium, viagra, and naked ladies, seen a donkey painted like a zebra…. oh, and been pickpocketed. Yeah, cash, credit cards, ID, all gone. Now we’re hiding in the convenience store using the free wifi to cancel my cards, hide from potential banditos and freak out my parents.

Oh, and also my residential visa got declined. Apparently because of my age and my occupation. I guess they don’t want any artists living in Mexico.

But John and I continue unafraid. We wandered in as tourists, and shall continue to Chihuahua, hope John’s wallet remains with him, and update you from there.

Think it’s safe to say we can cross Tijuana off the list of places to live.
